The important lesson of the 80/20 rule is not that you could remove the 80% that are unproductive in an organization and still have 80% output. It's that if you did such a thing, you would be left with a new organization in which still 20% of the people produced 80% of the output and the total output of which would probably be much less than 80% of the original organization.
